Hi, I’m Meredith. Welcome to motherly.
Half a century on the planet and you learn a thing or two. Throw in a major life event, and you are bound to gain some enlightenment on the path to self-healing.
motherly is a collection of the advice I’ve received and the knowledge I’ve gained on this path. All that I’ve been passing along to my teenage kids and friends who keep telling me, “You gotta write this shit down!”
It started in the middle of a very difficult time in my life. I was exhausted, anxious, and trying to hold everything together for my kids while my marriage was ending and my sense of self was coming apart.
Some of what you’ll find here is borrowed wisdom — ideas and quotes from authors I admire or podcasts I am obsessed with. Some of it is from conversations with wise friends, my mom and sister, or my therapist. Much of it is my own journaled thoughts shaped into short essays. All of it is my attempt to process and make sense of what it means to truly heal yourself and to build a life that feels more honest and embodied.
The work I’ve been doing while I’ve been doing “the work.”
Throughout my 20-year career in healthcare and nonprofit marketing and communication, I’ve always been fascinated by the mind–body connection and the ways we can heal ourselves, both physically and mentally.
These days, through my business, Momentum Content Studio, I help wellness practitioners and mission-driven small businesses put words around the important work they do so the right people can find them.
motherly sits alongside that work. Personal reflections from my own healing journey. My perspective on what it actually feels like to transform your life.
I hope something resonates. I hope something helps. Because being human is hard.
